Imac, I found this to be so interesting of the Abbey, i had to do a search of it. I love churches and especially churches from the old country. I wanted to see the inside of the church so if anyone else is interested here is the website for it http://www.buckfast.org.uk/site.php?use=stills Thanks for the kind words on my blog. I have so enjoyed your blog that its too hard to stay away. Will take me many weeks and month to catch up here when i leave for vacation. But i will.
I have just read an article about the development of mills of various sorts - among them the water mill driven ones. It was very interesting to see such a big one "live". The only one of this size I have ever seen was at a museum in Denmark. They could deliver(according to their times)"tremendous power". Do you happen to know if it is till in working order? (If I know anything about the English and their sense for conservation - it probably is)
Hi Imac, I got your message on my Skywatch so here I am, obeying orders, lol. Seriously though, the pictures of Buckfast are lovely.I see Old Wom Tigley refers to the infamous Buckfast wine! I rather liked it when I tried it years ago!
Wonder what's now inside of the Water Wheel Mill? I kind of doubt it's still a mill. But it certainly must be in use.
When I first read ~ I thought you said Water Wheel Mill Inn! Sometimes I like it when I misread. I wanted to ask you if you had any pics of inside! :-)

Those are stunning photos! What a beautiful place!
I LOVE water mills! We have the oldest water mill in the U.S. in my town; I will post a photo soon so you can see it. =)
Sorry for my absence... it is school vacation here because of the holiday and I've had a houseful of happy commotion for the last week! =)
Is this the place where the infamous Buckfast Wine is made?
Oh my this place is beautiful.
That water-wheel is huge and beautiful. Do they still work the mill?

Yep, Buckfast Abbey is famous for its wine and also mead.
I know the water wheel goes round and works, but dont think the mill is in opperation now.??
The water mill? I never saw that when I visited. I stayed on reatreat with the monks for 3 days, a beautiful place.
Quick Snap
This I Do...
They are both beautiful. I really like towers for some reason.
Nice shots, I'll be visiting Buckfast on my next trip to UK, I hope.
