Another excellent come closer post!
What a wonderful catch! He/she is beautiful!
Wonderful shots. Love how you see the whole bird and then you come closer.
seagulls... nasty little @&$*!they swoop down and steal your chips in llandudno.
That tongue and eye and nostril are amazing. Never get to see them up close like this. Nice work.
Good shot - his breath smells of fish!
WOW, that is a great shot. I wish my zoom was that clear. I think I need a new camera. My zoom is fuzzy.
is that middle broken looking thing the way an ordinary bird looks ??
WOW! Fabulous! Marvelous! what more can i say. Great shot
These are stunning Imac... I have yet to take any of Gulls...today I was lucky enough to take over 50 of a Greater Spotted Wood Pecker. I also took quite a few of a Siskin at the feeders. But the thing that got away todays was a Mole.. it just wouldn't push its head into view.
he (she?) looks like laughing at something!
I saw the hole in the beak where the nose is... NARROW..LOL
Is that his tongue????
I figured it out! Yes, I know how you make it seem that you get super-close, detailed shots. It's really a giant bird, isn't it? What, like 20 feet tall? Go on, you can tell me.
Now that's a serious close-up of a gull! Pretty soon our herring run will be busy (usually early-mid April). The gulls from the beach follow the marsh up to the herring run. We stand there totally amazed when we watch the gulls gorge themselves on herring... sometimes up to three fish in one gulp... and you can see the fish still squirming around in the gulls' buldging necks and bellies! Now I HOPE to get a photo of that this spring (not for the squeamish)! lol
I just noticed that you can see light through the nostrils. Yes, you can see light coming through from the other side of his skull. All of the sudden, I feel a strange kinship with this bird...
Wonderful eye capture. This post is wonderful : )
Wonderful! Wouldn't care to be in range of that beak though. 20ft tall herring gull Craver? Now that's scary!
Wow! What AMAZING shots....and LOVE the progession! Well Done Imac!!!
OMG a gull tongue!!! And I thought my squirrel tongue and wood pecker tongues were cool. This is hundred times cooler!!!!
