Stone Archway

As you enter Lincoln Cathedral through the stone archway, I happened to look up and saw all this carving on the stone, wondered how long it must have taken?.

Goodness knows! So much dedication, too.

Your header's very sweet! I'm just catching up with all your posts :)

The carvings are so amazing. What time consuming craftsmanship that is so rare today. Surely the Lincoln Cathedral is treasured by nations. I appreciate your taking me on your tour.
God Bless You

I don't think they make them like they used to. What incredible detail.

This is really something else! Imac, you should see my church. It used to be an elementary school. The building is very practical and utilitarian.

:-(

We do not have artwork like this, and it reminds me that for most of history, the church has been a major supporter of the arts.

They certainly wouldn't be able to do it today. Seems like all the old crafts have disappeared. Architecture is so bland these days, unless it's something really grand or imaginative.
