Hello 1 and all Bloggers, yep I've started blogging again, maybe not everyday but a few times a week.
My 1st post (as promised) is the Tall Ships Race from Falmouth, Sat13th September 2008, starting at 5pm.
We were there but not at 5pm altho we got a few shots of the tall ships before.

These are beautiful ships with their high masts and sails. Very small in the middle of the Pacific but I would not be afraid to try one.

ReplyDeleteYou know, when I was young say until my early 30's I could have been one of those guys climbing around up there on those ropes and not minded at all. Now, you couldn't pay me enough to do that!

ReplyDeleteGreat photos of some very beautiful ships. My spirit would be willing to climb up those masts, what an incredible view they would have. My body however would keep my feet firmly planted on the deck but I would still enjoy the view looking up.
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back. Bit confused, as I was expecting to see some bagpipes and tartan photos! Are they going to appear this week? Good selection of ship pictures though. Gail & I are off on holiday this week. We're headed for Dubai again. So expect to see some exotic photos appearing soon, especially with all the new stuff going on there at the moment.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I loved to read the stories of battles between sailing ships and those of the pirates in those years long ago. Your post brings back those memories of hours spent reading. I didn't know it then by one of my great-great grandfathers was a sailor as was his dad and one brother. Both were killed in shipwrecks so g-g granddad gave up sailing and became a farmer.

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful tall ships! We have a town here on Cape Cod named "Falmouth" (certainly named after it's UK predecessor)!

Tall ships are my favourites. They remind me of the days that my husband and I went to see them in Amsterdam. They are so beautiful.I am the daughter of a sailor and my husband was one for a short period.

Yeh, I'm so glad you're back!!! So glad you posted this! We took the kids there years ago, I can't remember exactly what was going on, but there was some type of anniversary or big display of all the Tall Ships...darn the old memory...it was probably 20 years ago or so? Does it ring a bell or anything about what I'm talking about or trying to remember? It was wonderful, and we were able to walk on some of the ships! Wow, I'll have to look for the old pictures! What a Great Post!!! So glad to showed these pictures and wrote about it!!!!Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
