"Are we there yet"

Who can remember as a kid, sitting in the back seat of their dads car with brothers of sisters going on holiday and just getting to the end of their road - all shouting together
""Are we there yet Dad""?

It always seemed to take forever to get to the coast - we lived a couple of hours from North Wales - and we grew impatient to see the sand, sea and donkeys before we even got as far as Chester. Then our parents couldn't get us off the beach - they'd be shivering in their anoraks at 8pm while we were still swimming and then they would be saying "are you sure you're not hungry for dinner yet?"

Happy Days :o)

I must admit that all I can remember was taking the bus and getting car-sick... :-)

I remember being that 'kid.'

I think you've perfectly described a timeless, world-wide phenomenon. I remember it well both as a child and a Dad.

Your Dad had a car - there's posh.

My dad had his trousers tucked in his socks, but he was still saving to buy a bicycle.

I think that question get handed down from generation to generation, I remember asking my Dad and then my son asking me. It's a family tradition! Ha-ha!

Mac: I remember that, we had a grandmother who lived in a town about 20 miles from us. It seemed like it took forever to get there.

I always sat in the front of the car, as my mum used to like to sit in the back. No seatbelt either. Them were the days!

If we're there, I want to know where we can from and how we got here!
