Been there, done that & had a great time. We collected a chunk of the red rock & it's sitting in the garden round our pond.

On the beach huts -

These are the same style/type of little *river huts* that you can find in North Carolina, particularly on Fontana Lake at Panthers creek!

But the are built on huge blocks of styrofoam - they float on the lake during warm months. Some people even add a small boat dock and/or a deck w/diving board. Strong long ropes are attached to the house and to a tree or anchor on the lake bank.

During the winter months, the water level in Fontana Lake drops, so the Panther Creek area is ususally completely void of water (except for the creek that is left).

For a yearly fee, a local land owner will handle the ropes, letting them out as the water level goes down, so that the hut will rest on the lake bottom for the winter. And then when the lake waters begins to rise again in the spring, the handler will adjust the rope so that the hut stays close to the bank.

As soon as the wether gets better, I'll go and get pics of them - then you can see the styofoam blocks.

:)

If Ancient One reads this comment, she knows what the huts look like.

My favorite photos are the huts and the cliffs. Wouldn't' it be wonderful to stay the summer in one of those tiny tiny huts (with lots of restaurants nearby!!). The color of the cliffs is amazing. The geology must be fascinating.

I think beach huts are hilariously funny - don't ask me why.

Perhaps its because they're so British
