11pm - and its New Years Eve in St Ives --- where the 6rd biggest party in the UK is held.
Pouring down with rain - Lots and lots of groups of folk and also single folk are on their way down to the Harbour of St Ives for the Firework display at Midnight
We didnt go as its windy with rain - so we watched from our flat window overlooking the Harbour - with a bottle of wine and nibbles.
Photos taken with flash and then enhanced -
I bet this young lady was feeling the cold and drenched--
Spiderman - trying to light a wet ciggy.
Glory-be - outfits with flashing lights --
Heaven knows what this little chappie is dressed up as? lol.
All roads into St Ives is closed to traffic early in the evening - from 8pm taxis were up and down dropping folk off at the bus station - just opposite our flat. They were lining up to drop off then back for more folk - this was going on till 11.45pm.
Next post - I will show the firework display ----so stay tuned into my photoblog folks.

Fascinating! Bet you would have dressed up and gone out if it hadn't been raining!
Happy New Year!! Looks like ya'll had a great view from your flat and stayed warm and dry....that last photo is a bit disturbing isn't it, lol.
I wonder if the babe in the carriage is over the masked mama yet. weird costumes and fun.
Looking forward to the fireworks.

Happy New Year and Bless to you glad you have fun.
St. Ives takes the New Year celebration very seriously. They have more costumed revelers than Times Square in New York. I think, however, you were wise to enjoy the celebration from your room -- some of those folks look absolutely drenched.
That's an interesting flock of people. Sounds like you had the right idea of staying dry and enjoying the drink safely.
My goodness ... wonders never cease! Happy New Year fun sharing friend :)
Certainly some sights on show. No wonder you were busy with your camera
These are great. Some intrepid souls out there--with lots of spirit! What a great way to bring in the new year.
Hi Stewart, Goodness---St. Ives really knows how to 'party' on New Year's Eve... Reminded me of Mardi Gras in New Orleans!!!!
Great pictures.

What a great view you had....and you made the best of it with great photos.
I was amazed at the footwear (or lack thereof) :)))
Hugs and smiles,
Jackie
wow - that is some fancy dress party! Shame about the rain though.. they do look a bit cold.
Were you dressed appropriately for this crowd? And my guess is that as they left the pubs, many of them were not feeling the rain or cold!
By the way - the contrail by the moon was exiting the top of the image, so no crashes near us that day.
