As you have noticed my Header is one beautiful Big Bird.

This is where these wonderful creatures live - Belvoir Castle around 8 miles from us.

Here are the gardens where they strut their stuff.

Peacock is commonly used to refer to birds of both sexes, but only males are
Peacocks, females are Peahens and together they are called Peahens.

Peacocks do not mix well with other domestic birds.

Peacocks are known for their large tails

Their large tails are used to attract females for mating rituals.

Males gather harems of females which lay 3-5 eggs at a time.

Altogether their size relates to a 6ft man.

Watch-out    --    another male is very near!!

Group of Peacocks are called  - A Party.

Are they not - just  the show off Big Bird

Well - there you have my Big Bird show - pop and see the other Headbangers what they they come up
for Big Bird.
You know where you will find these good folk now - side bar just above my shield.

Good Luck.

  4. Great stuff. They have a peacock at Beauvale Priory, but alas it was in the middle of shedding it's feathers the last time I was there.

  13. I so much enjoyed seeing your gorgeous pics of these marvelous birds. The neighbors down the road a piece, raise a ' party ' of peacocks and hens at their greenhouse. They strut their stuff, sing to one another and are an added joy during a garden tour.
    Thanks for sharing your day.
