So back in the day this nature freak was telling every body what things they could eat that they found in nature. He claimed in print that fiddle head ferns were not only edible but delicious, like poorman's asparagus, the only trick was making sure you removed all the brown fuzz. When we moved here to the farm their was an abundance of fiddle head ferns and not an abundance of cash. So I tried it. It takes a lot of work and time to get all the brown fuzz off. And in spite of all that time and effort the steamed fiddle head ferns still tasted like a mouthful of brown fuzz. That's what your last photo brought up in my mind today. Yum!

We usually don't think much of ferns. I think I will have to change my view of that now.
