If you were a Scot or a Brit (depending on who owned the Castle at the time)
How do you fancy running up these steps to defend??
Pity you - if you were a tall chap - defending the castle from this point.
Stiff legs after a while I'm bound.
After 10 minutes I was glad to get out of here - Let along hours-days-weeks?? defending.
This is the river path tunnel - from one side of the White Wall to the other.
Scotland to England.
So easy now-a-days, ---
The Boarder is now a few miles north from here.
Berwick - to be continued.

These are wonderful pictures of this wall. I definitely would not like to run up those stairs nor would I want to spend much time in the sally port. Thanks for taking us to this fascinating place.
Don't think the castle is a place for slightly chubby chaps who like their beer!
Very interesting story ! I always love to read about old castles. It's amazing that there are still "left overs" after so many years !
Great shots of a very interesting place with loads of history in every stone. I think the castles were regarded as "safe havens" than convenient places to live and work even back in those days.
Looks like a wonderful place to take a walk.
