Dreaming of the Northern Lights by imac

Dreaming of the Northern Lights by imac.
Yup, thats my dream - to see the Northern Lights.
Alas my dream has not yet come true, so with the help
of Photoshop Elements 2 - I have created imac's Northern Lights
from a simple cloudy grey sky

A fellow blogger
PICTURE IMPERFECT.
had a request for Northern Lights, sadly like me, had not captured them, BUT has a beautiful post of very coulourful fireworks manipulated.(out of this world)
The request came from 365 Photo Project       Please visit both, you wont regret your visits.

Hate to tell you, but the northern lights don't look like that (boo hoo). I haven't seen them since I was a cameraless kid. Betcha Staffan or RuneE have seen them and maybe they even have some photos.

Ah yes, the Northern lights is something I'd love to see too someday. It has to be totally amazing! Great job on the photo manipulation imac :-)

Well, if they aren't the real thing, they certainly come very close! Lovely what you've created from a cloudy grey sky, and thank you.

Lovely colors in your northern lights! I also took a quick look at "PICTURE IMPERFECT" and "365 Photo Project". I will be visiting them again. The NASA site Astronomy Picture of the Day has some phenomenal images (those people have some BIG cameras with long lens!). They also take their Cannons and Nikons out and get some great sky shots. I did a quick search through the archives and offer a few northern lights posts for your review:

Mac... these are such fun!

I live in a place where we *should* see them all the time. Sadly, I haven't seen them in years. Something about usually being in bed by dark thirty I guess. hehe

You can be sure that when I see them again, I will try my hardest to capture them for all of you! :o)

I hope you do get to see the Northern Lights in person, but I like what you've done with these photos in Photoshop Elements.

We got a faint glimpse of them from our own location once years ago. Alas, on our trips to Alaska, we have missed them. The hotels have a service like a wake up call and will call your room if they are visible.

I like the bright colors!

Lynn is right - Northen Light doesn't look like that in reality, but I think it's ok to use the imagination and take certain liberties now and then. I like your idea, the colours and the fantasy behind the photos. Unfortunately I have no pictures of Northern Light to post.
