Dragon-fly
Taken Friday19thSeptember @ Grantham Canal. On a walk DW and I went on yesterday afternoon. This photo was taken with my 300mm VR Nikon lens then zoomed and cropped once on the computer. Will show you all later of the 5 stages I went through.
Well captured Imac... I tried early this year to get a few shots of them nearby a local pond... none were as good as this that I got. I have since found out that early morning is the best time... as the sun startsto warm the earth these can be seen with wings out-stretched warming themselves before taking to the air to hunt they first meal of the day.
Jinksy is absolutely correct. Turquoise jewelry is the first thing that comes to mind. Excellent capture. I will post some dragonflies next week, but mine are sans blue. This is a beautiful creature, and it's a bonus that they eat mosquitoes.
When I saw it on your header, my jaw dropped and I think I may have drooled on my keyboard. Marvellous, marvellous shot! Truly, more beautiful than jewellery.
The body looks like an exquisite piece of turquoise jewellery...
ReplyDeleteWow...that's all I can say!
