Your old camera did a good job. I hated those with the slow shutter release. I think those kind accounted for most of my photos when I first started. You did well to capture these shots.
Great action shots! I had one with a very slow shutter release, my very first digital camera. I don't think I ever timed anything correctly. These are exceptional :)
