The story goes that during the building of the Whitby Abbey the great fire-breathing Wyrm was disturbed from his slumber in the mountain. He attempted to destroy the town but was banished into the sea. Every seven years he returns at full moon to attempt to drag the abbey into the sea by clawing away at the cliff on which it stands.
Interesting set of signage.

Arguements Yard?! What an address!
ReplyDeleteAt least I know what to expect in Arguments Yard. No surprises.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about the first sign - Was it a cottage that had steps going down to the water? You know me and my imagination. I ask so many questions. The sketch of the dragon is incredible the way it's posted as signage.
ReplyDeleteYou've shown us some very interesting signs. Thanks for the story of the Whitby Wyrm.
