My World (15)

My World = The photos are taken in Belton House Grounds nr Grantham UK.

The Poem is by me.

This post is a short story to show that Progress - Means Changes -sometimes - not for the better for some People.

Oh - Hello ! Welcome - Welcome to My World - Please come-on in, Im just about to have my juice and a biscuit. As Time Passes Life rolls by..... Time means changes for Progress - Progress changes everything....

Eviction for some.........

PROGRESS.

By S. Mackinder - (c) 1996.

A budding sapling healthy and strong,

Lies shadowed among a twisted throng,

Nestling in rolling fields of green,

Crowned with daisies fit for a Queen.

Giant toothed monsters arrived to crew the Earth,

Tons of volcanic concrete erupted for all its worth,

Motorway madness stretched mile upon mile,

Emitting exhaust fumes so poisonous and vile.

Gone is the branch of life,

overhung with age and strife,

Once home for the singing Lark,

Now a stump of dead and wrinkled bark.

My World and Skywatch goes hand in hand.

The Team = Klaus - Sandy - Ivar - Wren - Fishing Guy - Louise.

  2. That must be you in the tree house?

And the logs look like a sliced brown loaf on a breadboard...the bread of life, perhaps?

  3. It's always sad to see a grand old tree cut down for any reason.

  4. Oh Darn...was the tree damaged? Is that why it was cut down.
    Trees are so awesome.
Thanks for the post and great poem you wrote.
    Take care

  5. The photographs touched my heart as did the poem. I wonder what will happen to all the wood nymphs and flower fairies displaced by building.

  7. So true, Imac. Progress doesn't always men "progress." And it is sad to say goodbye to a tree...especially if a new mall or subdivision is going up in its place.

  9. I liked the photos and the poem. Progress isn't always welcome. I don't usually mind cutting just one tree, I hate when they take the whole forrest.

  14. No ,no, no, why did the tree have to go. If the fairies want re houses, I have a nature reserve waiting for them with plenty of tees. Sad world today.

  17. Trees are the lungs of the earth. Some people don't realise that we are exploiting our world, the earth.

  21. That's a lovely little sprite in among those grand roots! It's so hard to see a tree felled. I hate it, actually. Like losing a friend. Your poem touched my heart, Imac.

  22. We all see too much of that sort of "progress" unfortunately.

But fortunately, there's also good progress, that needs no quotes and that we can enjoy.

I believe we can have our trees and progress, too.

  23. Ah, so you are friends with the little people. I surely hope it was not his tree that we so cruely cut down. If that's progress then take me back to the dark ages. Very poetic.

  28. Unfortunately, progress always means one has to give up something that ends up being better than those things progress give us.

    Environment.
Horse and buggy much better than the automobile. Look at the damage making an automobile and then driving it has done to the planet. That is the kind of progress I don't like.

  30. How terrible too ose a grand old tree.
In our little town a historic, perfectly healthy tree was felled without consultation and for no good reason. The tree was at least 300 years old and had a diameter of 9'. We were both ropeable, but there was nothing to be done after the event.
Hope you enjoy your Yorkshire holiday.
