That tongue and eye and nostril are amazing. Never get to see them up close like this. Nice work.

WOW, that is a great shot. I wish my zoom was that clear. I think I need a new camera. My zoom is fuzzy.

These are stunning Imac... I have yet to take any of Gulls...
today I was lucky enough to take over 50 of a Greater Spotted Wood Pecker. I also took quite a few of a Siskin at the feeders.
But the thing that got away todays was a Mole.. it just wouldn't push its head into view.

I figured it out! Yes, I know how you make it seem that you get super-close, detailed shots. It's really a giant bird, isn't it? What, like 20 feet tall? Go on, you can tell me.

Now that's a serious close-up of a gull! Pretty soon our herring run will be busy (usually early-mid April). The gulls from the beach follow the marsh up to the herring run. We stand there totally amazed when we watch the gulls gorge themselves on herring... sometimes up to three fish in one gulp... and you can see the fish still squirming around in the gulls' buldging necks and bellies! Now I HOPE to get a photo of that this spring (not for the squeamish)! lol

I just noticed that you can see light through the nostrils. Yes, you can see light coming through from the other side of his skull. All of the sudden, I feel a strange kinship with this bird...

Wonderful! Wouldn't care to be in range of that beak though. 20ft tall herring gull Craver? Now that's scary!
