Splendid the photograph, marvellous colours, and the nerves in his feathers are impressive! Afterwards certain weeks will fill my region from these insects.

How do you know that it's an old insect, did you see her bus pass?

Blimey, I've just been away knitting socks and you've been all over the country.

Was that dragonfly out at the weekend, it will be frozen to death by next weekend I fear

To answer your questions,The Elderly Dragon Fly was taken a few years ago at Woodland Waters, near Grantham.
I sent the photo to a insect expert, who says it was an elderly female, as it has lost most of her colour.

Terrific closeup. I love the transparent wings and the various shadings.

wonderful capture. I have always been interested in this insect. When I was a boy I would always see them in the summer. I love the close up on the design of the wing. Great shot.

I LOVE dragonflies! Glad you told us how you can tell she's elderly! I didn't realize that the more colorful ones are younger. I"ll remember that. I can't wait until they come around again. I got my first shot of one last year.
